Submit

Put on your virtual tweed jacket and beard, it is time for a new kind of creative workshop. We invite all of our submitters to open their pieces to commentary from readers and their online colleagues.

We invite all of our readers to leave the type of constructive criticism and praise that will promotes productive discussion. We and the creator of each piece reserve the right to remove any comments we feel are inappropriate and/or do not promote the type of dialogue we seek.

Please keep in mind the following things while submitting:
  • We print how you format. So, make sure it looks the way you want.
  • You can send your work to us in the body of an email or as an attached Word doc. Try to avoid the .docx format. We are holding onto older versions of Word.
  • We get a lot of pieces and cannot reply to everyone. We apologize, but you will probably only hear from us if we accept your piece.
  • We need to watch our backs and so do you. So, by submitting your work, you agree to the following:
    • I am the author/artist of the piece to be published.
    • I own the copyright to the piece, which you wil retain even after we print it.
    • I grant to The Raleigh Quarterly the right to publish my piece and to sell the piece without compensation. BUT, you still own the rights to the piece. We will sell it only in regards to the printed edition of The Raleigh Quarterly.
    • I grant to The Raleigh Quarterly the right to use my name and likeness in any and all ongoing promotional material. (We like to toot our own horn and yours a little, too. Most of the times it is just an email letting people know what is on the site or in the magazine)
